May Newsletter 2024

Principal's Message

Hello Parents and Caregivers,

I am happy to have this opportunity to connect with you.

Spring is here and what a joy it has been.  The playground has a whole new wonderful vibe. The play equipment is busy, students are skipping and the sandboxes are back to life.

Next week is  Mental Health Week. Children’s mental health is so important thus we have some special events taking place

to celebrate this important week.  It is vital to talk about mental health and to teach students strategies to support good mental health.

Next year, we will fully adopt a program called the Umbrella Project. During  Mental Health Week we will give the students a little insight into this upcoming program.  I want to give you a first opportunity to learn about it.  Please click on this link to learn more: The Umbrella Project. You will learn a lot more about it as the 2024-2025 school year unfolds. I hope our curiosity is piqued.

For this month we are going to centre on the Umbrella Project skill of KINDNESS.  This fits so well with the focus of Mental Health Week – A Call to Be Kind - Because Compassion Connects Us All.  Please visit this link too: Mental Health Week

I continue to be grateful for the opportunity to lead the learning at Brookside Public School.  I am positioned to do this well because of the wonderful students, the caring staff, and because of you too, the parents and caregivers who do the right thing.

As always please call the school or email me at: [email protected] if you have any concerns, questions, or ideas.  Communication is key.

Respectfully,

Angela Cowley

Principal

Through simple acts of kindness, we can foster resilience and promote mental wellness within our school community. Stay tuned for family activity suggestions throughout the week, aimed at fostering connections and promoting well-being.  On Wednesday, May 8,2024  staff and students are encouraged to wear Green.
