Welcome to Brookside Public School
Brookside Public School is a JK-8 school located in Ashfield Township, near Lake Huron in Ontario. We have a student population of approximately 200 students and 19 staff. Our students’ addresses include Lucknow, Dungannon, Auburn, Port Albert, Kingsbridge and Goderich.
Brookside’s staff believes that student success is the result of the partnership between the home, school and community. The community generously supports the entire staff in our goal to provide the best academic environment for our students. Brookside Public School has some committed and caring volunteers who assist with our reading program initiatives and other tasks. The School Advisory Council meets a minimum of four times per year and supports the school through fund-raising, family events, food days and, most importantly, with their knowledge of the community. We thank them for their leadership and advice. Many hands make light work, and new volunteers are always welcome.
Our mission:
We will encourage and teach our students
to excel in learning, to succeed in life, and to enrich our community.
Our school goals are to improve reading and writing achievement, and the students’ ability to demonstrate higher order thinking skills in all divisions. We also constantly encourage the development of the Avon Maitland District School Board’s ten character attributes among our students and in our school community. Our students rely on the support of their parents and our community in order to achieve success. We need our parents to be actively involved in their children’s education.
Environmental issues are a focus at Brookside. Our school reuses and recycles. We collect used toner/ink cartridges, cell phones, mP3 players, and digital cameras. Our Green Team is very active in reminding students to turn off lights and computers, and in making announcements at school to encourage reduction of waste production (garbage, electricity, water, etc.). GOOS (good on one side) paper use is promoted by all staff.
There are many extra-curricular opportunities for students at Brookside. The staff is committed to developing well-rounded citizens who will contribute their skills and talents to community activities.
We hope you enjoy our website. It will be updated throughout the year with our school newsletter and event news. Please feel free to contact the school for more information.
