Principal’s Message

February’s character attribute is Perseverance. Each one of you has demonstrated perseverance over the past year in ways you never thought possible. I could not be more proud to be part of this school community and to see the efforts each one of you has put into online learning, supporting each other when times have been tough and following the rules that limit our contacts with friends and family. Although we are returning to face to face learning our perseverance must continue in order to keep our community safe; Properly wearing our masks, working hard to keep distanced, washing our hands and staying home where we are sick, even with the smallest of symptoms. We are in this together and hoping we can all persevere a bit longer.  Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if we can help in any way.

This word doesn't seem big enough to adequately convey the appreciation we have for so many people.  To our school team, parents, grandparents, caregivers and our students who have worked so hard and shown such patience, perseverance and dedication during our time learning from home. The determination and diligence shown by staff, students and families to make distance learning a success was nothing short of amazing.

I was so impressed each day as I visited virtual classrooms to see the attendance, the engagement and creativity, and the support that was given at home, despite the many other responsibilities you all had.  However, although impressed, I am not at all surprised, as I have learned quickly during my time here that Brookside is a community that isn't afraid to try and learn new things, to always work hard, and who prioritizes relationships. We were able to travel our learning curve together, to exercise resilience and also learn to overcome challenges while accepting that we do not need to be perfect every day.

With sincere thanks for being our partners in education, Robyn
